The present study analysed the major trends in some of the key financial indicators and studied the price competitiveness in Indian banking industry, specifically among public sector and private sector banks, in post liberalization era. It also made an attempt to analyse the determinants of competitiveness. A sample comprising of 39 banks are considered for the purpose of study. Statistical tools such as panel data analysis and Panzar-Rosse model are used for analysis. The objective of the book is to provide research scholars and banking & finance professionals a peek into the emerging competitive dynamics in Indian banking sector.

Dr. Manas Ranjan Panda works as Managing Consultant in Banking and Financial Services division in Wipro Limited. He has wide experience in Retail Banking and Wealth Management. He is involved in design and implementation of core banking and next generation financial solutions in large international banks across continents. He also delivers trainings and talks on banking and finance and has several publications in international journals to his credit.

Dr. Prabodha Kumar Hota is Senior Reader at P.G. Department of Commerce, Utkal University, Bhubaneswar, Odisha. An expert in Business Finance and Quantitative Techniques area, he has several publications to his credit in national and international publications. He also serves as Associate Editor in “Orissa Journal of Commerce”. A well acclaimed academician, he has been guide and mentor to many Ph. D scholars over the years.
